Lotte performs Peter Maxwell Davies’ tour de force monodrama for solo mezzo soprano, The Medium.

Originally given its premiere in Stromness Academy Theatre in 1981, this piece follows in the tradition of Eight Songs for a Mad King and Miss Donnithorne's Maggot in being a dramatic and vocal tour-de-force for a singer. Is she a Medium, is she un-hinged, is she a poor traumatised soul? A succession of characters spring forth in this dramatic scena bringing an ever more nightmarish world to vivid life for the performer and audience.
